Obituary of Val Joe Buell

Val Joe Buell (72) former resident of St. Maries, ID passed away at the Schneidmiller Hospice House on October 25, 2024.  He was born to Robert and Agnes (Johnson) Buell on August 15, 1952, in St. Maries, ID.  Val Joe grew up in St. Maries and graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1970.

Following high school, Val Joe enlisted into the U.S. Army serving 2 years in Germany during the Vietnam War Era.  He was honorably discharged and returned to St. Maries.  At that time, he went to work for All 48 Freight Lines with his father.  He met Pam Peterson in St. Maries when her family relocated from Pierce, ID.  The couple was married in 1974 and had their son Jeremy and later daughter Valerie.  After 4 years the marriage ended in divorce.

Over the years, Val Joe worked off and on in the timber industry.  He was a very meticulous and clean man who was always respectful and kind having charisma and a vibe about him where he was likeable to everyone.  Blessed with talent, he had all the capabilities to do whatever his heart desired.  Most importantly, he had faith that could move mountains and was consistent when it came to reading his bible and loving the Lord.  He also liked to fish, spending time on all the lakes and rivers in North Idaho. 

Val Joe is survived by his son and daughter in-law Jeremy and Candi Buell of Plummer, ID; siblings Vanessa Edwards of Florida and Bobbi Morgan of Post Falls; Uncle Jack and Eleanor Buell and Aunt Pam and Harry Grubham all of St. Maries, ID.  Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter Valerie Boggs.
