Laura Tyner

Obituary of Laura Lee Tyner

Lori Tyner, a longtime resident of Benewah County, passed away at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane WA on February 8th 2023 due to complications from a massive stroke.

Lori was the third and youngest child born to Bob and Lois Tyner of Long Beach CA on January 7th, 1956. In 1969, the stereotypical "California Blond" moved with her family from the small town of Long Beach CA to the big city of St. Maries ID. Lori was 13 years old.

Lori attended middle school and high school in St. Maries ID. During this time she enjoyed cheerleading and driving her boyfriend’s cars fast, including but not limited to Dusters and Mustangs. Lori was among the graduating class of 1974.

Lori had two sons. She gave birth to the very first baby born in Benewah County in 1975 and named him RC. It would not be for another 10 years before she would give birth to her 2nd child. She named him Ty.

Over the next 20 years Lori took up residence in several small towns, very similar to St. Maries, throughout N. Idaho. With all odds against her, she took a gamble, packed up all her things, and headed out into the big world. Unable to make it through the Nevada desert, she unhitched her wagon in a well know village by the name of Lost Wages, excuse me, Las Vegas.

Lori loved the life in Sin City until 2004, at which time she returned and remained in the St. Maries area until her final days.

Quite often Lori was the center of attention and the life of the party. She loved socializing with friends, strangers, animals, and even herself at times. She had a thing for babies and was notorious for randomly approaching them in a store or on the street regardless on whether she knew the infants parents or not.

Floating the St. Joe River and rooting for the Green Bay Packers were two of her favorite hobbies. Doing a crossword, scratching a lotto ticket, and reading a Woman’s World or Handyman magazine were also some of her favorite past times.

Lori is survived by her oldest son and his wife RC and Amee Marquette, her oldest granddaughter Ashlie Kay and step grandson Tony, her youngest son and his wife Ty and Kristi Tyner and three grandchildren Aiden, Violet, and Gracelyn. Siblings "Biker Bob" Tyner and Sid Felton, and stepbrothers Scott and Mitch Tuel.

Lori is preceded in death by her step granddaughter Sadie, her parents Bob and Lois Tyner, and step dad Jim Tuel.

The loudmouth Lori from Long Beach may be gone but she will not be forgotten. She will be missed by many (in time their aim will improve).

A service is being planned for Lori in July. You may visit Lori's online tribute to send condolences to her family or see updated service information at hodgefuneralhome.com.

Inappropriate memories and incriminating stories anyone would like to privately share with the family may be sent to her sons at marquetterob@gmail.com and gityner@yahoo.com .  All names will be changed to protect the guilty.
